Shopping in Battambang and other provinces

Shopping in Battambang:


Different from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Battambang may not have a night life but it does boast interesting shopping opportunities. You can buy woodcarvings from souvenir shops or markets in Battambang, marble sculptures from markets in Pursat, and sapphires from markets in Pailin.
Along the riverside, Road number 1, several hotels/guest houses as well as has small souvenir/art/curios shops that you can look for. In the centre of town you will see a selection of wood and marble products. The art shops have a better selection than the hotels and a couple has very interesting collections of curios, old jewelry, coins, antiques and oddities; which you should have a look.

We would like to tell you some important places that you can do shopping as follow:

Phsar Nath (Central Market)
Located in the center of town
Products you can buy/services: fruits, vegetables, meat, clothes, sundries, food, gem...etc. A couple of banks, photo shops and moneychangers line the streets that ring the phsar.

Phsar Leu (Leu Phsar)
Located south of town,
Products you can buy: oranges and pomelos (the oranges are said to be the best oranges in the country)

Chea Heang Drink Shop
Located on the west side of Phsar Nath, Battambang Town
Services provided/products you can buy: offering ice cream bars, cheeses, yogurt, wines, and other imported items.

Chea Neang Grocery
Facing Psar Nath, Battambang Town
Products you can buy: Western products, including cheese, wine, yoghurt and Wall's ice cream

Fresh Eats Cafe
Located in City Center
Products you can buy: purses, kramas, stuffed animals and other handicrafts made by vulnerable women.

Heng Maly
Located on Street 1, Riverside, Battambang Town
Products you can buy: massive hardwood furniture as well as more portable Khmer-style carved-wood items.

Rachana Handicrafts
Located near East Bank, Battambang Town
This NGO-run sewing workshop trains disadvantaged women and sells purses, stuffed toys, kramas and cotton and silk accessories.

The Smiling Sky Bookshop
On Road #2 near the White Rose, Battambnag Town
It is a second hand bookshop dealing in English language books - Cambodia related titles, novels, popular literature...etc.
